Hello out there,
can anyone help me? I have a new motherboard. On the IDE port I put a samsung hdd 120gb (master) and a dvd-burner as slave, and a 250gb sata drive. One problem is that the boot process is extremely slow. It takes about 20 seconds for the bios to detect the drives, and then again about a minute until the boot manager (grub) is loaded. After that, everything is fine. Windows and Linux are booting fast.
Without the dvd burner the boot process is very fast. What I tried is to toggle master and slave. Now the bios boots very fast, but the hdd is detected as 33.8 gb and so grub is complaining an error (18).
Any hint?
