Keyboard and mouse problem

I'm having a HP xe4100 which works perfect. But there is one major problem.
After some time, working in Win XP Pro, my keyboard and mouse don't respond
anymore. No matter what I do. Even Crtl+Alt+Del doesn't work.
After a reset of my system everything seems to be right. But after a while
this problem turns to be back again.
I'm using Symantec Internet Security, did scan my computer with Microsoft
Live OneCare in Safe Mode. Did scan my system with Spysweeper and AGV Adware
scan. Reinstalled Win XP Pro again and tried another mouse on this laptop
but no result. So, no virus, no spyware or adware or blocking anything.
Who knows a solution to this problem?

What type of keyboard and mouse are you using? Wireless, wired PS/2

Hey Alan,

Please forgive me about this far belated response but this problem has been
solved. I bought myself a HP mouse some weeks ago. This mouse has cause all
those troubles. After connecting another oneall problems vanished as snow
before sun.

Sometimes things are more clearly than you would expect.
