My HP pavillian has keyboard problems -

While typing the cursor jumps to other places and starts inserting
text there -

If I use a external keyboard, the problem goes away -

Anybody else experience this?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

If it is a notebook, then the touchpad is picking up the movement of your
hands. Make sure you keep your hands away from the touchpad. When I use an
external mouse, I disable the touchpad.

Depending upon the model of Pavilion, which you haven't specified, there may
be a button to turn off the pad.

Depending upon the OS, which you haven't specified, there may be an applet
in the control panel, or one by the clock to control the touchpad.

You may need to download an updated driver.

On my HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop, the button to turn off the touchpad is just
above the touchpad in the middle of the black trim.
