L4VXA2 and power shutdown problem

I just put a ECS L4VXA2 and P4 2.4GhZ system together and loaded Win
XP. Everything works fine except the power switch does not work!? The
system cannot power down either depressing the power switch (for 4
secs) or via the Win XP 'turn off' button. After depressing the power
switch for 4 sec, the system shuts down but once I release, the system
immediately powers up again.

The only way to shutdown is to switch the power supply swith off! This
is quite a nuisance.

I upgraded to the latest BIOS v1.0h but problem still persists.

I wonder if anyone has encountered this problem before. Is this a
motherboard or BIOS issue?

Thanks in advance for any info,
-Ed

Sounds like a Operating System problem but here's something to try in BIOS
if you haven't already.

Enter BIOS then go to Power Management Setup.
Check the Soft-Off by PWRBTN. If this is set to Delay 4 Sec, try switching
it to Instant Off.
Check PWRON After PWR-FAIL. If this is set to On, try switching to Off.

I have the same trouble with the same model. The BIOS reprogramming has no effect.
