Laptop Freezing at point POST (Compaq logo) screen

I have a Compaq 3015US laptop that is "freezing" at the COMPAQ logo
screen . It happens wether a hard drive is installed or not. None of
the keyboard keys work at the point of freezing but I can power it
off. Any help would be appriciated.

Are you getting any beep codes? If it happens whether the hard drive
is installed or not, then check your jumpers and make sure it is set
to master. Can you get into the setup program? I think it is the
Delete key for compaqs, but not sure. You should be able to tell from
there if your hard drive is set up correctly. Was it shipped this way
or have you added any new components?

I am getting no beeps, cant get into setup, and as I said all keys are dead.

Is the laptop under warranty? Remember, don't try to fix something you don't
need to. If Compaq/HP sold you a bad notebook then get a new one. I checked
and as far as I can tell you should be able to get a new one. Most
computers, including laptops, come with usually a 3 year warranty for
hardware related issues.
