Laptop Shut Down

I have a ZE5185 that for no reason simply shuts down. I have been through
this entire system and even went as far as a reformatting of the HD. So far,
same problem. I am at my end of my teather. HP is no help at all.
Is there any program that can hold info of what was happening right before
or during the crash, memory useage, temps, cpu info and the like?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What operating system are you using?

Does it shut itself down regardless if it is running on battery
or mains power?

INSTALLED EASY WITHOUT HAVE TO GO TO CONTROL PANEL. YOUR LAPTOP
WILL RUN VERY GOOD NO MORE VIDEO DELAYS OR SHUTDOWN. "

Perhaps using the XE4500 M6 DRIVER FOR WIN XP video driver will
solve it.

The system could be shutting down due to overheating. Pentium 4 CPUs run
pretty hot, and need to be cooled sufficiently.

Is it possible that dust and dirt are clogging the vents used for intake and
exhaust of air to cool the system? Unplug the power adapter, remove the
battery, and use a can of compressed air to dislodge the dust and dirt. Point
the can's nozzle into the vents and blast away.

Also, as a test, can you operate the computer in a really cold air-conditioned
room? How long have these spontaneous shutdowns been going on? Did they also
occur in the winter? ... Ben Myers
