Is there anyway to find out how much toner is left with this printer? I
recently bought a 2nd user printer you see which came complete with a toner
(not a new toner, nor guaruanteed to a level) but out of interest, I'd like
to know how much is left before I order another toner.

Cheers for any help,
Matt

Matt,

The LJ4 and LJ5 do not have any built-in mechanism or electronics to show the
toner level. Buy a cartridge, refilled from a reputable source is OK (despite
the toner troll who pops up in this NG now and then), keep it on hand. When it
looks like toner is running out, remove the cartridge, tilt it back and forth
from side to side a few times, and put the cartridge back in. Sometimes the
remaining toner is redistributed evenly and the cartridge produces another 100
pages. Or insert the new cartridge.

The larger LJ4 (not 4si) are sturdy workhorses which produce thousands of pages
with little or no service but proper care... Ben Myers

Weigh it. I've a note somewhere of the weight of these carts. full
and empty, but I'm damned if I can find it ATM. Maybe someone else can
help?
These are often to be found on eBay, BTW, see:
