LaserJet 4000 printing too far down the page

I have a Laserjet 4000 and I am printing on form paper. The problem
is the printer prints about 1/2" farther down the page than it should
so the print does not fit in the space on the form.

What I am printing is 1 or 2 pages from pre-existing large PDF files
where some pages need to be reprinted. These files print correctly on
the big HP printers, so I cannot reformat the output.

Is there any way to adjust the feed or something so it will print
where it should on the form? Any ideas on why it would print
correctly on all printers but this one?

The LJ4000 has both PCL and PostScript. Do you get the same result with both?
My guess is that the "big" HP printers are set up with PostScript and your
LJ4000 uses a PCL driver. If so, install the PostScript driver and try. The
4000 and bigger Laserjet printers are designed with PCL and PostScript together,
and they can accept printing in either printer control language. As long as I
have had a PostScript printer (printer with Postscript driver), I have never had
a problem printing PDFs of any sort. Adobe owns PostScript and PDF formats, and
the right hand knows what the left hand is doing there. Adobe has workarounds
for printing PDFs successfully with LaserJet PCL, but why not use PostScript?

Yes I tried both drivers and get the same result.

Wow! That's not a result I would have expected. The printer prints OK,
otherwise? Are these PDFs excessively complex, leading to possible printer
buffer overruns due to insufficient memory in the printer itself? You can test
this simply by printing the same PDFs at a lower printer resolution, say 600 dpi
or even 300 dpi... Ben Myers

It was at 600. I tried it at 300 and no buffer errors, but it still is
printing lower on the page.

The normal setting is 600 - I tried 300 with the same result and no
buffer error.
