LaserJet 8000 and 8 bin mailbox won't collate

I have just added an 8 bin mailbox to out LaserJet 8000 printer, and no
matter what I do, the copies won't collate; they all come out of the
top printer tray. If I set the output option to Collator, then both
copies come out in the top mailbox.

The printer MB8 menu option is set to Collate, my printer driver is set
with the installed option of the Mailbox set to collate, and when I
print from Word, it is set to collate.

Can anyone help?

I have very limited experience with collators but heaps with the 8000 series HP
Laserjets.
Are you using WinXP?
If so, make sure that the collate option is set both in the Properties tab of
the driver and the Preferences tab, with some printer drivers both need to be
set for tray and output bin settings to make them work correctly.
Also check in Word that the Tools/Options Print tab (and maybe some sub menus)
are correctly set to recognise the collator.
That's all I can think of.
Good luck
Tony

don't use this option as the printer driver already takes care for that.

Does it work if you don't use the collate option in Word?

Hi Christian,

I tried it without the collate option set in Word, but both copies
still come out in the standard printer tray.

it seems as if the option is defective. Do you have another system to test
it on?
