How long until a system ships?

I placed an order for a E520 system on Tuesday and the estimated ship
date was yesterday. Dell's site is still showing the system as being
"in production". I haven't received any tracking numbers yet via e-
mail either. About how long is it taking Dell to ship current systems
after they've been ordered.

It seems to vary greatly.

in the past I've seen everything from rapid delivery where I ordered a
system on tuesday AM and it was delivered by Friday (I had chosen 3-5 day
ground) , along with notices to me from Dell with the tracking number etc,
to my most recent order this past Tuesday AM, got a e-mail notice that it
was shipped the same day (again after choosing ground 3-5-day), but the web
site still shows tracking information not avaialible. It shows it shipped
6-19 with estimated delivery 6-22-26-07.
i think this time it will actually show up before the tracking info is even
available.

Your previous poster was IMO correct and I'll add that my experience
has sometimes shown their updates aren't up to date and it arrives
faster than I expect. Bottom line..... I don't know <grin>.

Sure enough, the system I mentioned in my previous message that was ordered
Tuesday AM (from the Dell outlet) shipped the same day (the 19th) and was
just delivered today.

The status on Dells site stills shows the shipping info as 'unavailable.'
No doubt come Monday, it'll probably show the UPS tracking number.

You may take delivery of your computer before Dell shows it's shipped
(no guarantee, but I wouldn't worry about what Dell's Web site shows).

It varies. For me, orders have always been shipped before it shows as
shipped on the Dell site, and it usually arrives by the time Dell
shows it shipped. And, orders have always arrived long before the
estimated delivery date that is given when placing an order.

I just ordered an E520 from the Small Business division, for a friend,
late Sunday. The estimated shipping date was July 2. It was shipped
on Monday, June 18, and Dell even sent me a note (on time) saying it
was shipped. It arrived two days later, on Wednesday, June 20. It
shipped FedX ground from Round Rock, TX, to Sacramento, CA.
