Folks

My machine runs on an Asus PP5L 1394 motherboard.
2Gb RAM - Nvidia GeForce 8800GT video card - Maxtor 6L200PO HDD as C
set as master on IDE channel and a Samsung HDD as D on an SATA
connection - with a single DVD RW unit as slave on the IDE channel.
I have a 350w PSU.

I'm running Vista Home Premium with SP1.

Everything has been absolutely fine up until this morning.
I have made no changes or updates for the last few days.

For no known reason, now, when booting, the system takes absolutely
ages to get to the Windows 'welcome' screen.

The boot routine that usually took a few seconds and runs up the screen
so fast you cannot read anything, now takes about 5 minutes - line by
line.

I initially thought my C drive may be on the way out, but a scan of the
drive via Vista reports no errors.

Once Windows has loaded, all seems as normal - there is no lag or
issues with C drive .. so I am assuming it's a MoBo issue.

Can anybody offer me a steer please? The board is approx 18 months old
(ish).

Thanks

Mick

Maybe enable boot logging, from safe mode - I assume Vista still has boot
logging - its likely to be a driver issue ie taking a while to load
