A friend of mine tried to install a game called, I think, Medal of Honor
last night.

She's running a Sony Vaio PC with Windows XP Home, a 1.3GHz processor,
512MB of RAM, and an NVIDA RIVA TNT2 64 Pro video card.

She emailed me the following error text, which occured when she
attempted to install MoH:

GLW choose PFD failed
Failed to find appropriate PIXELFORMAT
could not set the given mode
shutting down QGL
Missing glide installations
assuming no 3DDFL available
shutting down QGL
and this one in red
GLW_start openGL( ) could not load open GL subsystem

Anybody have any idea what this means, and/or what to do about it?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

it's a graphics driver problem
ensure she has the latest drivers for the graphics card and also has DirectX
9 or later loaded

The "missing glide installations" suggests that it is expecting a 3DFx
graphics card (voodoo) - either the wrong card has being selected during
installation/setup or there are still drivers left on the system from a
previous 3DFX graphics card.

TMack and Paul H.:

Thanks, guys...I'll locate the latest driver for her - she's 64 years
old and not terribly technically inclined - and get her set up.

Do you have to uninstall the current driver, or can you do an install-over?

Best,
Steve

You may have to manually remove previous drivers before reinstalling correct
one

Oh yeah...she's a hoot. She played Mrs. Landingham, the President's
secretary on "The West Wing" for a couple of seasons. Great lady.

Thanks again...
