microprocessor decision

hi fellows

can any one give me some technical differences between Pentium IV
series micropproce. & compatible AMD process. also kindly tell me
details about AMD 64 bit computing processors. I have heard a problem
that AMD processors heat up IS it true OR not? kindly help me in
choosing the correct Microprocessor in terms of technology &
performance
