How do I get application buttons back on my taskbar? I was trying to install
some new toolbars. One toolbar I installed in portrait mode. After that, no
application bars anylonger. The screen is 1024x600, so in portrait mode the
taskbar is pretty short. Deleting the toolbars didn't bring the application
buttons back.

Try dragging the top of the taskbar to double-height (it might have to
be unlocked first) and then see if everything is visible and can be
rearranged.

I have the impression, as if there are two taskbars one over the other.
Though, I don't get hold on the other taskbar 'behind'. Resizing the taskbar
doesn't seem to help: no application buttons on taskbar.

Do you have a restore point available from before you installed the
toolbars?

I've seen reports of this happening when people install the Google search
toolbar, but you might want to check the solution from MVP Kelly Theriot
here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Look under Taskbar -
Programs Aren't Minimized in the Taskbar. She has a file which will fix
Registry problems for you.

Actually, this happened to me after I installed a Windows update. At least,
that seems to be the only thing I installed. I don't have the Google
toolbar.... Thanks for the link. It worked like a charm.
