I have XP Pro
on a Pent 4
with a Nvidia 1.4.13.09

Lately for some reason the monitor shuts itself into a sleep mode. I have my
setting to NEVER shut off the monitor.
I tried another monitor and it does the same thing.
It also is set for the screen saver to come on after 9999 minutes
It is random when it wants to shut off, sometimes after hours, sometimes
after a few minutes. Any reasons why this might be happening and whats the
fix.

Select (None) for screensaver to turn it off. Your monitor is still going
into sleep mode as long as you have any time set for it.

ok,
but now the screen is going into weird colors, like the main windows
display page gets all smeared and pixelated and the screen is locked...
could this be a video card errors?

Did you install a 3rd party screensaver? If so, uninstall it.

If not, uninstall your video card drivers and re-install them.

If the problem still occurs, your video card may be on it's last legs.

no third party screensaver..
I had a firewire card hooked up to the video card.. When I unplugged it I
was able to get a signal back on my screen.
I was transfering some video to the computer and wonder if that had anything
to do with it?

We'll see...
thanks for the advise PhxGrunge

Still with the firewall card unplugged it does this.
As for your reply Mr .E Solved, unless you have some help, go back to
playing with yourself. As I saw from your email
sounds like the only date your going to get is one with your hand!
thanks
