Nice/creative idea's here my thoughts on it:
1. Sawing/cutting into the plastic would not be a good idea... it
would further weaken it and then the stock amd cooler might not even
hold on anymore.
2. Metal clips attached to screw probably not gonna work... I might
have a little bit of metal wire or a paper clip but I see no
possibility of attaching it... the screw also has little room on the
end of it... it's very tight fit... also the cpu cooler has to be
perfectly attached to cpu otherwise it won't cool properly. So I don't
want a shaky solution and this would be a very shaky solution.
Thanks for thinking about solutions anyway it was kinda interesting !
I had two motherboards... I sent one back to webshop... but then
didn't give RMA (I already wrote about that in the past)... I didn't
ask for the motherboard back because of possible shipping costs or
fines or whatever... it's kinda a bummer... because if I still had old
dead motherboard then I could have easily replaced the retention clip.
I am still gonna ask them the motherboard back... they kinda owe me
since they said it would be fine for RMA replacement... curious if
they still have it... probably not... I also wonder about possibly
shipping costs...
Anyway before I can do that I need to fix my "Dream/Nightmare PC"
first because I want to use the outlook express folders for it to keep
messages in sync and stored.
So my only solution for now I using the stock AMD CPU Cooler that came
with the processor... Maybe it's better after all...
Scythe admitted that their cooler obstructs airflow which could be
bad... Also it might blow dust into the memory chips (new theory from
me

) and cause short circuits in memory chip

Or maybe it will
blow heat into memory chip... either of those two... Ofcourse could be
general failure but I don't really believe that... or maybe these
chips were of lower quality and that's why they sent me back two ?!?
hmm..
Well I need my computer back online since I don't wanna move my
printer and all kinds of ****... and it will be easier to do printing
and all kinds of stuff...
It will kinda be interesting to see what the temperatures will be...
with the Scythe it was cpu between 35 and 45 degrees... and
motherboard 35 to 40 degrees... maybe sometimes 43 or 45 but rarely...
most mb to 40 degrees or so...
It depends on how much the pc dust filters are filled/obstructed.
I usually also run fans on 10 to 25% speed or so for low sound... so
low to modest airflow...
Local computer store went out of bussiness otherwise maybe they had
these retention clips... I also wasted a little bit of artic silver 7
but fortunately I have two tubes or so... and I only need a little bit
so that's ok... Now hopefully I don't break anything when trying to
press that cooler onto it

Probably not... but ya never know...
maybe micro fractures
Sad sad sad damn machine LOL.(But it is fast and low noise

)
Bye,
Skybuck.
