Moving data and programs from one computer to another

Because the topic of moving data and programs from one computer to another was
discussed recently here, I found the following announcement interesting. I am

Interesting that the Serif people are pushing the Laplink product. Serif sells

Hi!

Whew! What a quote!

Basing on an experience going back to the mid-90s, I think you might
find that Serif will try to "upsell" you even if you only want what is
being offered. You may not get anything if you "stick to your guns"
and ask for exactly what is being offered.

I remember when they sent out a similar promotion for their PagePlus
product and got me interested in it. I think the deal was to get a
copy of PagePlus for $5 and shipping costs, which sounded interesting
at the time. They were polite enough, but very insistent that I buy
another, more expensive variant. I insisted, and they said the order
would go through.

It's been over ten years since and I never got anything from them. But
they didn't charge me, so I guess I can't complain.
