I'm looking to connect 3 internal hard drives up inside mt PC. I've
already got 2 CD drives installed. Is there a special IDE cable
needed, as the only ones I've seen so far are dual connectors. Or Is
it that the motherboard needs to be able to support the amount of
drives I'm trying to install. There a only 2 ide connectors and 1
floppy conector on the motherboard.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

I think you will have to sacrifice a cd drive, but putting a hard disk
with a cd drives slows the hard disk if its ata133,i dont know about
ata100 though.
You could get a pci ata133 card and have disks on the card and cdrom
on the mobo.I am going to try this myself tonight if i can find
confirmation it is possible.

Hope this is some help

You can add a controller that will support 4 more drives. Try Promise
Technology at http://www.promise.com.

You can add another controller to the system that will support 4 more
IDE drives. Promise Technology makes a good one. Look at
http://www.promise.com.

IDE ports only allow for two devices per port. So in your system the
motherboard will only support four drives. Without knowing your
motherboards make and model the only suggestions I have is either
remove one drive you can live without or buy a IDE controller (like
this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...BROWSE&depa=0).

If you know the make or model of your motherboard then somebody might
beable to suggest something else.

hope this helps

>>>>>>>>>>>>>Yup...with a PCI card you can connect more hard drives,

in addition to the one on the Ide controller.

You can only install two IDE devices per IDE channel, so you cannot add any
more harddrives that way. You would have to buy a PCI expansion card that
adds more internal IDE ports.

Thanks very much for your replies. I think the best way is to remove
one of the cd drives.
