Hi All.
In need of a processor /fan for my K7SEM motherboard.
Can you help me out.
On looking for my board, i think i will need a Socket A Duron type of
processor.
One I've looked at is called a "AMD Duron 1.8 gig".
How big a gig processor can i have to fit this board?
Can I buy a "Athlon"? if so how big a gig can i go?
Running XP with 512 ram if that makes any odds.
Cheers on this.

Depends on the motherboard version.

It will probably be on the MB next to one of the PCI slots.

On my K7S5a mb, it says ver 1.3 in smaller letters than the K7S5a letters and it
is perpendicular to and to the outside of the last two PCI slots.
OR
Try downloading Everest Home Edition and/or Belarc Advisor which may give you
the version. Sometimes they will not accurately give the mb ver number. However,
if they say the later version number, then it is usually true.

I've got Belerc, but can not see anything in there that says what i need to
know
Not sure if this helps, but in Belarc,
Under Processor - 950 megahertz AMD Duron
128 kilobyte primary memory
cache
64 kilobyte secondary memory
cache
System Model -Asset Tag: 0123ABC
Main Circuit Board -Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: American
Megatrends Inc. 062710 07/15/97
Does that mean anything?
Cheers

Look here:

A Duron Pro1300+ is actually equivalent to a Duron 900MHz cpu.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Hopefully someone else will help out.

Popped into a local computer store to ask them about my problem with this
processor. They said this motherboard K7SEM had a "onboard" processor that
could not be replaced, upgraded as it was soldered on? Is this possible?
Their remedy was a new MB,Processor and ram, another gem was my 2 week old
512sdram stick is not used on modern boards so even with a new MB, i could
have one that takes this type of memory stick only DDR?
Any comments?
