Hi,
I am trying to install a sata hard drive, I have the data cable and
the slots in my main board to put them, I start by hooking up the hard
drive, power is plugged in to the hard drive, I boot using my xp disc
but my computer wont pick up the new sata hard drive, any solutions ??

Thank you

What make and model is your motherboard? What make and model is the
drive? Does it show up in the BIOS?

Is that the original version (or maybe SP1) of XP? If that's the case,
perhaps you need to you use the driver diskette/CD that comes with the
motherboard while starting the Windows installation, during the part in
the beginning in which you are asked to press F6 (or something similar)
to install RAID drivers.

You did not state which version of XP, or what make and model of motherboard
you are using. But, in general, the main question is are you using XP SP2
as you need to do to have access to the required SATA drivers? Also, did
you enable SATA harddrives in your BIOS?

If you are using a XP cd that is pre service pack one than you are going to
have to use the floppy that came with the motherboard to get the installer
to recognize the drive.
