Oblivion slow-mo with latest drivers?

I have a 7900GT 256MB & in Oblivion my character's walking & running
movements are in slow-motion while all other actions like using weapons &
other NPC move at normal speed. Reloading helps sometimes, but the problem
usually comes back during play. Using a previous drivers seems to fix this.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I wouldn't expect Nvidia
to release a driver that doesn't work right with a popular game such as
Oblivion & I haven't seen anything in their release notes for 93.31
regarding Oblivion.

I think I had a similar problem a little while ago. However, I would just
restart Oblivion and everything would go back to fine. It happened a couple
of times, and hasn't happened since.
So, sadly, I can't give you any advice...I don't think I'd done anything
with my drivers at the time.
All I can suggest is try the usual fixes for Oblivion bugs: reload an even
earlier save, reload the default config file, exit and restart Oblvion/
Windoze.
Or, of course, roll back the drivers.

If you hit your always run key while the journal/map/inventory is up, it
will toggle the state of always run for when the journal is off again.

I am running Oblivion on a 6600GT with no problems--default rez. I do
have a SATA drive and a Gig of memory. Over time, there is a pregnant
pause when moving to a new map area. This gets slower and slower as the
game continues. It appears that the garbage collection scheme used by
the game is the fault. At some point you just have to quit and restart.
When you quit, XP itself gets slow for a while as it scraps out the
memory that Oblivion had taken over. It appears Oblivion's exit leaves
that up to XP too with Oblivion unable to exit gracefully all the time.

I have played with the 'speed up' setting and there isn't a lot of
difference that I can see--17" monitor. But again at default
resolution. I've upped the resolution and didn't see a huge improvement
in the scene. It was a bit nicer at my max resolution but nothing to
write home about. I did get a bit of 'slomo' effect at times but it was
still quite playable.

BTW, I'm a L 30 male, imperial fighter with all the major quests solved
and just a few minor quests and some of the Dadra ones active and about
ready to set it aside for a while. So, I've had a lot of hours of play
using the 6600GT.

BTW, I do keep only 5 saves beside the auto. Those files are large.

No problem here with the latest drivers (UK version). XFX 7800GS Extreme
AGP - Oblivion working as well as before.

Patch Oblivion to the latest version if you haven't done so already.

Change "max frames to render ahead" to 1 in the nVidia control panels.

Try running with HDR off. It doesn't look as pretty, but is more stable.

I tend to archive/ compress my saves when I get to about a hundred. I've
been burnt too many times with games that'll crap out on you after a
particular save, only to find out the second most recent save was from 3
hours of gameplay ago.
I think I've done about 30 hours and haven't even touched the main quest
beyond helping Kvatch! I've just been running aorund doing the fighters' and
mages' guild quests and whatever else strolls my way lol...

I just got a 7900GT yesterday and am using 91.28 drivers and I can't
see that option in the control panel. I'm looking under Manage 3D
Settings.

I tried changing this setting yesterday after reinstalling 91.31 & so far
I haven't experienced the slow-mo again yet. I've googled this problem &
browsed around some forums & this is the first time I've heard of this as a
potential fix so thanks.

The setting only shows up after coolbits is installed which you can find at
guru3d.com. It's a registry tweak which activates some extra tabs like for
overclocking & this "max frames to render ahead,"

OK, thx. I used to use coolbits to OC but this is the first Nvidia card I've
owned since buying my GF4 Ti4200, which still does duty in my other PC.
