HI,

I just got a DELL Optplex with the 256MB ATI Radeon 2400XT with dual VGA.

DELL supplies a Y cable with 2 VGA connectors, the other end of the
cable has a connector with 4 rows of pins. The top 3 rows have 15 or 16
pins (hard to count them) and the 4th row has a single pin missing, the
3rd one from the left is. This connector fits the ATI card.

I have my DELL 1905 monitor's VGA connector hooked up to an older system
and so temporarily I wanted to use the DVI-D connector to connect to the
Optiplex 755.

Can I get a converter for DVI-D cable that came with the 1905 monitor to
fit the graphics card or do I need to get the Dual DVI option Y cable
from DELL?

What is the connector on the graphics card called?

Thanks, Marilyn

I figured this out. The card has a DMS-59 coonector. So now I just
need to get a DMS-59 to DVI-D cable.

they should have given you that cable if your card was equipped to
handle dual dvi.
i think you only have a dual vga version of that card, and it may not
work - even if you get the adapter cable... better ask them to be sure.

An update an I got a LHF (Aka DMS-59) to DVI Y cable from DELL, actually
made by PNY for #29 with free shipping. I have the my DELL 1905 hooked up.

It would have been nice if the description with the vendor card
explicitly mentioned you were getting a Y cable.

Yeah, that DMS59 threw me for a loop. I just assumed it was a DVI
connector and was going nuts when my new monitor would not plug in.

My Optiplex came with the DMS59 to dual VGA adapter, I just wish I had
known exactly what it was, and wish the machine had come with a DMS59 to
dual DVI adapter as well.
