Does anyone know whether I can use a Mac OS 8.1 system folder as my
Classic System Folder in Panther?

The reason I ask is, on my old PM9600, I stuck with 8.1 because it
seemed really stable on that machine, and because newer OSes introduced
some problematic behaviour into some of my apps (WordPerfect for example).

Now that I've switched over to a PM G5 with 10.3.5 those problems with
Classic apps (along with some new problems) are still there.

I guess I could burn my existing System Folder onto a CD and replace it
with the System Folder from my 9600, and see if it works, but I figured
I'd ask here before inadvertently blowing the crankshaft out of the new
G5.

Thanks for any insights.

Jacob

I know. You can't.

Classic requires at least Mac OS 9.1, and preferably 9.2.2

You did install the updater for WP for OS 9?
