will this processor work on my BE6-II v.2 ...

933 MHZ SLOT 1 CPU / Processor SL4BT

and will it work with 100MHz memory????

There is no yes or no answer to this one.
The BX chip-set used on the BE6-II does not fully support the 133MHz FSB
used on a PIII933. The problem is that when running 133FSB the AGP bus speed
goes over spec (89MHz against spec speed of 66). This can cause problems
with some agp graphics cards, in my experience the Geforce range are usually
ok but there are no guarantees. PCI graphics cards are fine. Other than the
agp issue the board runs 133FSB (and much more) without a problem.
The memory needs to be able to run at 133MHz, so really you should have
PC133. Some good quality PC100 will manage it but most generic stuff won't.

If you want to avoid all these 'complications' stick with a 100MHz FSB cpu.
The newer Tualatin Celerons are the hot upgrade for a BE6-II, they go up to
1.4GHz. You need a Tualatin adapter such as the Slot-T by

i don't see any problem using a 933 on this board
you will need pc133 ram though

What about the agp overclocking issue????????

your answer is incomplete at best since the BX chipset does not fully
support 133 FSB cpu's. the AGP bus will not be running in spec when the FSB
is above 100.

he is talking about the version 2 one, not 1
it's not the agp overclocking you want to ask about anyway, it's more the
pci overclocking
the version 2 board is made for 133mhz (i know the bx chipset isn't)
it's been so long since i had this board i can't find any good info onh it,
all i can find is stuff on the old ver 1 one, annoying :/

Hi,
I have been running a BE6-II v1.1 for 4 years. It can run the 133MHz-FSB
but there are a few things to take note of:

The BX chipset wasn't designed to run the 133MHz-FSB but ABIT did give it a
good go!

When you run the FSB @133MHz you need to switch the PCI divider from 1/3 to
1/4 so that the PCI Bus keeps in specs (33MHz), however you can't do the
same with the AGP. The best option available for AGP when running at
133MHz-FSB is to set it at 1/3, which means that it will be running at 89MHz
when it should be 66Mhz. On my 32MB GeForce256 DDR AGp card this wasn't a
problem, actually made the card work faster!

Of course you will need some PC133. The other thing to point out is that
when you switch from 100MHz to 133MHz FSB there is a setting in BIOS called
*CPU Queue Depth* or something like that, and it switches from 8 to 1 once
you hit 133MHz-FSB. Somehow this setting cuts my memory bandwidth nearly
50%

PIII 550 (5.5x100Mhz) running Cas2.0,2,2 Queue Depth 8 = 269MB/s Memtest
bandwidth

PIII550 @ 733MHz (5.5 x 133) running Cas2.0,3,3 Queue Depth 1= 159MB/s
Memtest bandwidth

PIII550 @ 733MHz (5.5 x 133) running Cas2.0,3,3 Queue Depth 8= 292MB/s
Memtest bandwidth, but at this setting the system won't load windows.

I don't know if this is an issue with 100MHz CPUs running at 133MHz-FSB, and
maybe it is different with a native 133MHz-FSB CPU. Anyway once I found
this out I went back to running stocks speeds. . .

no problem at all if using a card that has no problem running at 89MHz
clock (many of them can do, some not); if the card is nVidia one,
there is a tweak on my site under comp/mymachine how I did with mine..

I also run a BE6-II version 1.1 with a 133 FSB 1 gig cpu. it runs quite
well there and I even keep the Queue Depth at 8. but the only point I was
trying to make is that since the chipset isn't intended to run at that speed
and does not have a proper divider for the AGP bus to stay in spec at 133
FSB, one cannot just up and assume that all will go well...

the version 2 board uses the exact same chipset as the version 1.x boards.
this board differs only in that it came with a Highpoint 370 raid controller
instead of the Highpoint 366 ATA66 controller.

the BX chipset has a proper divider to keep the PCI bus in spec when the FSB
is at 133 but it does not have a proper divider for the AGP bus to be in
spec at that FSB. the question is not whether you can accomplish running
the board at 133 as many have and still do. the point is to say that one
cannot automatically that every system will accomplish the feat as some
video cards can object.

there was no such thing as a BX chipset based board that was made to run at
133 FSB, including the BX-133 board which was a wonderful marketing attempt
to convince people that there was a 133 FSB version of the BX chipset.
