Mine runs fine with stock fan/heatsink. Stock fan is a bit noisey. My case
is modded by coolcases.com ..

I have used heatsink/fans that have included the stock
Intel (available as a separate part), ThermalTake, Zalman,
Cooler-Master, etc. What is your poison? Choose wisely for
once the HS is mounted, it is very difficult to remove. The
important point to remember is to have a good bonding between
the heatsink and the CPU heat slug. As for the fans themselves,
they can be replaced separately in the better units, e.g.,
converting from fixed-speed to variable-speed, etc.

Thanks for the offer mate but I would rather put s/thing new on it as
opposed to used, Saying that I,ve got off the fence and decided to go for
the Akasa 687 only as it was recommended with the oem cpu if its a wronger
then it will have to come off and replaced with s/thing better.

I was going for the Prescott but after reading untold reports about temps
decided to go 512 instead, I take it you are running the same cpu? any probs
or issues?
