P4B Deluxe Lan1 - Lan2 issue

I just built a system using the ASUS P4B Deluxe MB and for the first time in
a long time experienced a new system that came up and ran with "no"
problems! I have gained renewed faith in ASUS. However, I have one minor
issue. I have the Lan cable connected to Port One on the MB and everything
works ok. I am connected to the other PC's on my home network via a SMC
Gigabit Switch and I am connected to the Internet via the Gigabit Switch
connected to a SMC Router/Cable Modem. The only problem is Win XP says the
a Lan Port is not connected. When I Disable Lan2 in the Bios I lose all
Lan/Internet capability. When I Enable Lan2 and Disable Lan1 I lose all
Lan/Internet Capability! It seems both Lan Ports must be Enabled in the
Bios! What am I doing wrong or do I just have to live with Win XP telling
me one of the Lan Ports is disconnected?
