You did remember to uninstall the previous card first?

Dear All,

I'm having some problems with upgrading my GeForce2 to a DX9
compatible card.

I have now tried an AGP Blaster5 FX5200 and an AGP Radeon 9600SE and
both have given me the same symptom. Once I have plugged in the card,
wired it all back up and turned the system on, the monitor (which I
have tested on another system and it still works properly) goes into
standby mode and refuses to leave said mode. Before I have attached
the VGA cable the monitor presents a "No Signal" message so I know
some connection has been made.

Has anyone heard of anything similar ?

Further info:
The cards that I was trying to install were
- Blaster5 FX5200 AGP8x TV 128MB (now returned to the shop)
- Radeon 9600SE AGP8x TV DVO 128MB

System Info
- Motherboard = ECS P4VXASD2 (not sure what version but probably V1.X)
- BIOS = AMI 07.00T 02/04/2001 (SMBIOS = 2.3)
- AGP 4x (no voltage rating given)
- Power Supply = 300W

AGP BIOS Settings
- AGP Mode = 4x
- AGP Comp Driving = Auto
- Manual AGP Comp Driving = CB (this is greyed unless AGP Comp Driving
is set to Manual) valid setting 00-FF
- AGP Apeture Size = 64MB
- Auto Detect DIMM/PC Clk = Enabled
- CLK GEN Spread Spectrum = Disabled

(and there are no PCI boards in the slot adjacent to the AGP Slot).

Cari,

Yes I tried it both ways and got the same result with uninstalled drivers.
