hi all!

i have a p5w dh deluxe and its great but i have a problem with the
realtek onboard sound: i use a 4 speaker system but i only can get the
rear speakers working as side speakers using the lime jack (above the
black jack). the sound test works on all the 4 speakers but using e.g.
winamp or my tv applikation i can only get sound on the front speakers.
is there a possibility to "clone" the sound also to the rear (side)
speakers??? i havent found any function yet

thx for help in advance!

What happens, if you tell the sound software, that the rear speakers
are "headphones" ? Perhaps if you declare the second set of speakers
to be headphones, that will trigger clone mode.

Clone mode is definitely supported on the headphone jack on the
front of the computer. The headphone output appears on the
FP_AUDIO header. If you can connect the second set of speakers
to the headphone output on the FP_AUDIO header, then presumably
the software will perform the cloning function there. Cloning
is described as "multiple streaming" in this Realtek product
description.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/p...nn=4&ProdID=43

"The ALC882 series provide 10 channels of DAC that simultaneously
support 7.1 sound playback, plus 2 channels of independent stereo
sound output (multiple streaming) through the Front-Out-Left and
Front-Out-Right channels."

Hi, I've got the same motherboard and there are quite a few people around
that have got this issue. What I did to fix it was as you've done, however I
use 6 speaker mode, 5.1, and the latest drivers from realtek, wdm_r147. I've
only tested this with games and windvd but it works fine...

Hi, I've not tried winamp only Windvd, I really don't know what winamp will
play perhaps if it plays mp3's only then it will only be stereo through the
front speakers anyway....

I'm actually having a similar issue. I've been having to use strictly
a digital optical hookup at the moment, which is frustrating because
most games will not recognize this yet. At any rate, when I go through
six-channel direct into my Logitech Z-5500's and use the test speaker
program through the Realtek Control Panel (same motherboard - Asus P5W
DH Deluxe) I get sound out of all my speakers except the rear two.
I've tried switching cables and ports, nothing - the speakers are good,
I know this, as sound comes out of them in optical hookup. Any
advice? Just updated drivers too, no help there...

hi chris!

my former board with nforce2 chipset for amd cpu's (a7n8x-e deluxe)
also got a realtek chipset onboard and it alows 'clonig' of sound to
all 4 speakers, so if i started winamp i got sound on all speakers...
i think this is a realtek hd audio error!

greets
wolfgang

I'm also having this issue with the Z5500's I just got yesterday.

Note that in the "AC97 Audio Configuration" control panel when I select
the Speaker Test tab and select the rear speakers, it just plays out of
the front speakers, exactly like when I hit the front speakers
directly. Like you everything works great in digital mode.

I have a shuttle PC so I'm not sure who made the motherboard.

I suspect this is an issue with the speakers themselves. I *just*
replaced my old Z-680's and this was never a problem before, unless I
updated the drivers since I last tried the test and don't remember (I
don't use the 5.1 sound all that much).

I might try hooking up my old z-680s later (what a pain) to test it.
They have some problems now but basically still work well enough to
test.

Please let me know if you've learned anything more as well,
Cheers,
-Chris C.

Hi, I found that setting the rear speakers as side speakers made them work
ok as 5.1 sound in games and in DVD films...
