Page Fault in Non-Paged Area

I've had several Acer computers give me the "page fault in nonpaged
area" BSOD recently - and got NO help from Acer on it. Two machines
are at the repair depot now, had the motherboard replaced on another
one a few months ago. The one that had the motherboard replaced
crashed again.

Turns out it is not a hardware issue after-all. It has to do with sme
of the "crap-ware" Acer loads their systems up with - in particular
the E-Lock manager. It doesn't play well with the latest upgrades from
either Microsoft or AVG or both.

REMOVING THE E-LOCK MANAGER SOLVES THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!

Just thought it might save someone out there a lot of grief knowing
this before resorting to ACER support or doing a complete system
restore (which solves the problem untill all the updates are
re-installed)

Did you take the time to advise Acer of this problem since you DID find a
solution????? That way they can fix eLock Manager so it does get along with
the updates. It might be especially helpful if you even let them know which
updates seem to be the problem.

I let them know - for all the good it will do. I found out just after
delivering 2 systems to the depot for repair - and they STILL bungled
through and replaced all the ram and the hard drive trying to solve
the problem THEIR way. Thankfully I had a backup of all the customer's
data on the one machine.
The other one had a failed hard drive, which they replaced - and no
backup.

After a full restore the system works just fine.UNTILL all the
updates/service packs etc are installed. Remove E-Lock and it's fine
again.

Can you identify exactly which update causes the failure, or something close
enough so the rest of us can readily identify this problem if it surfaces on
our watch?

I, for one, would appreciate the knowledge, JIC I come face to face with an
Acer system that is suffering from this malaise.

I cannot say for sure which upgrade, but I've had 6 more in the last
week.

Just get rid of the e-lock manager (and all the rest of the Acer
E-crap to be on the safe side) and you are gold.
