Parhelia1 = no DirectX9, no AGP8x, low GPUfreq, expensive
I'll have to wait for Parhelia2...

Pitou? (Or was that the codename for p650/p750?)

Anyone?

Pitou was indeed the internal name for the next "full" Parhelia. What has
happened to it is anyone's guess, although you may find out a little more on
the murc forums.

All we know beyond speculations at this point is that:

1: Matrox has at least one card scheduled for release next year, as per
Haig.
2: Microsoft will require pixel shader 2.0 support for Longhorn
compatibility.

It remains to see whether the new card will be Pitou (P2), and merely do
what the Parhelia was marketed as supporting, or whether it'll actually be a
big enough improvement for 2 years.

My personal fear is that P2 will be to the 9800XT (or whatever the must-have
high-end card will be next summer) as the P was to the Ti4600. I.e. too
little, too late. Or, with the 3% market share, Matrox might even not be
around as Matrox next year. We'll see.
