Intermittently, when I power the computer it give none stop long

It is telling me there is a hardware problem but which one?

The below link can tell you what device via the BIOS beep code.

Not knowing what type of BIOS you have they can list them all.

No matter what the beeps tell you, the cause could likely be any one of
failing/failed memory, motherboard, or marginal power supply. Open up the case,
reseat the DIMM or SIMM memory in its socket(s) after making sure that there is
no dust getting in the way of solid electrical contact. If the computer has a
separate video card (unlikely with HP), remove it, then reinstall it to make
sure it is properly seated in its socket. Beyond these suggestions, I can't
offer anything concrete until the beep sequence and BIOS manufacturer are
identified... Ben Myers

Thank you to both of you for your suggestions. I checked the website
for the Award BIOS.

I pulled out and reset everything I could, then, finally reinstalled
Windows, but not from an HP CD, as, according to the computer owner
the original one is gone.

I have more questions which I will ask under the appropriate heading.
