I can't comment on this exact model, but I have a dv6750ed [1], which
AFAICT is an earlier model in the same series, i.e. same housing, etc..
I'm very satisfied with it (except for getting used to Vista, but that
has nothing to do with this machine or HP for that matter).
I'm using it at home, so I can't comment on battery life.

It probably won't come with a recovery DVD (These things are dependent
on the *exact* model, i.e. can even differ for US versus other versions.)
With mine I had to burn the (2) recovery DVDs. No big deal. While you
can't do a selective recovery, you can remove stuff with the normal
"Uninstall a program".
