Hello,

Is there a device out there that connects to a notebook via docking
station port, USB, Firewire or other common bus to a chassis or
external unit that houses PCI or PCI-X (PCI Express) cards? I have not
seen this before, but could be very interesting if something like this
existed.

Thanks.

Docking station ports are not a "common bus" - they are entirely
proprietary.

Docking stations with PCI slots are available for _some_ laptops; e.g.

This gets asked every once in a while.

CardBus and ExpressCard to PCI:

Interesting? Definitely. Useful? Could be. Cost effective? No, unless
your company pays for it.

JL,

Thanks for the information. Yes this is a bit pricey. But well worth
looking into.
