pen problems on network

Hi. Got a problem and I don't know what I've done. here's the setup:

I run a Motion 1300 tablet, Tablet XP sp1 on encrypted networks behind
routers both at home and at work in my medical clinic. A month or so ago,
after a sudden crash and reported it to Microsoft, I was advised by MS to
download a new Wacom pen driver, which I subsequently did. No problems
thereafter, no crashes, pen worked fine. When I have the table in the dock, I
control the mouse with the touch pad in the keyboard, can select with one
finger tap, double left click with two finger taps on pad, and used right
button for right mouse clicking or tap and hold also for right mouse click,
all no problem.

The motion pen has one side button. I have the pen set so that, one tap
brings the arrow-mouse to that location, two taps = left mouse click,
pressing side button + tap = right mouse click.

Since this morning (& problems persists after cold reboot), when I am
working localled on tablet, can single click with pen, double click, and
right mouse click all work, but as soon as I go on server, all settings of
pen seem lost. I can only sign in, or subsequently select any button/menu
item by clicking and holding. Way different behavior. closing the remote desk
top session and going back local table work, old settings are there.

I'd like to remove the new Wacom driver. Under Add/Remove there is a 154 Mb
"Microsoft Windows Table PC Recognizer Pack". Is that the standard pen driver
or is that the Wacom driver set? Safe to remove?

I don't want to use the system set point and revert to the prior XP state,
if possible, as I've installed several other important programs since.

Can you help me, please? Thanks

The Recognizer Pack is normally exactly that. See
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en .
When you're accessing the server, are you logged on as a different user with
different credentials? I would make sure you have the latest Wacom driver
(4.94-3a, as I recall) also installed in that instance.

Are you using additional languages on the unit? If not, there would be no
need to have the Recognizer Pack installed.

Thanks for reply, Chris.
1. thanks for heads up on what the Recognizer does.
2. I use exactly the same saved RDS profile to access the server. No change.
Should I, perhaps, erase it and build another one?
3. It's 4.94-3

Build another one first, Jon, and see what the behavior is like on it. If
it is the one account which is behaving badly, then you'll know.

Hi. Just couldn't get it to work. Then I went ahead and reverted to the
3/11/06 system set point and that fixed it. Dunno what gives, but whatever
works! Thanks for your time and presence, Chris. Jon

Drat. Now we don't know. Perhaps it was just a hiccup, and will never be
explained. Glad it is working!
