MY computer **** downsuddenly over and over. When I open the case I
immediately notice the power supply fan is stopped. The computer still
boots up half the time and is still working. I assume just the fan
needs replacing. I have 2 questions:
1. Am i correct that only the fan is broken?
2. If i leave my computer off for 15-20 hours will that be enough time
for the "live voltage" or whatever you call it to leave the system so
i wont get electrocuted?

If the computer only boots half the time there is something wrong.

You should have no need to open the case to check the power supply fan.
While the computer is powered on place your hand near the grille in the
power supply; normally it's at the rear of the computer.

If the fan is working correctly you will feel the flow of air. If the fan
is not working the air flow will be absent.

I will suggest that if the fan is not working you might want to start with a
known, good, high-quality power supply and run some diagnostics on your
system.

I will *not* suggest that you change the power supply fan yourself.

Although the procedure is generally easy for someone with the requisite
mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge, the connection of the fan
to the power supply circuit board is not standard.

ur fan not working will not cause ur comp to reboot repeatedly. the
problem could lie in the power supply itself or even the other
components such as the video card. u do need a new power supply though
or at least a new fan. i suggest u dont do this on ur own.
