Hi,

I am wanting to run an 8" touch screen monitor (which supposedly
only uses 9W) from my PSU. The monitor only needs a 12V input, and
rather than blow up the monitor testing it, I thought that I would ask
everyone if this is possible? I know that I would have to rig up some
sort of plug, but other than that, is is possible to run a 12V monitor
of the 12V rail from my PSU?

Thanks,

Al.

Make a power cable that will plug into a spare power plug (one intended for a disk drive). The plug has ground, + 12 volts and + 5 volts. Use a meter to be sure it is connected properly.

It should be possible. You will have to fool the PSU into thinking it
is connected to a motherboard (unless it already is), for which you
can find the instructions at my website:
