Hello,

Is there a way to power-up the P5B-Deluxe system using a USB Keyboard
and/or Mouse?

I can power-up my P3B-F system either by tapping the spacebar on my
keyboard or by moving my mouse, but on this system neither device is
USB, both use the conventional PS/2 connections.

Thank you,

Steven

Did you make the settings in the bios?

My problem, with a P5B Premium is it won't boot when I turn on the power
strip the computer is plugged into. So, I settled for tapping the space bar
to start.

And did You set the power on after power failure in BIOS so your system will
power on with the power strip?

I thought I did, I must be missing something then? What BIOS setting
should I be looking at to power-up the system from the space bar on my
USB keyboard?

Thanks again,

Steven

That would only work if he turns the power strip off while the computer is
still running (not wise imho, SMPS's go pop)

If he "really" wanted to do this then the best thing to do would be to tag a
solid state switch on to the +5 standby voltage and when that cycles have it
throw the switch.

And this works on your system with a USB keyboard (and mouse)? I have a
Microsoft 4000 Natural Ergonomic keyboard and a Microsoft 5000 Wireless
Laser Mouse. I wonder if anyone else can confirm this on their system?

Thanks again James,

Steven

With my old ASUS TUSL2-C I could do a Start Shutdown; this would turn the
computer off. Then I would turn the master switch off on the power strip
which had the computer, monitor, scanner, power speakers, USB wall wart and
a few other goodies plugged into it.

The next morning, I would turn on the power strip master switch and all of
the above would come on including the TUSL2-C which would do a normal boot.

I'd like the same for my new P5B Premium running Windows XP.

The option is in the bios settings but doesn't work. For a substitute I use
Power On with the Space Bar.

Yes, I do understand what your saying, but my understanding of the way this
feature is built is that it should NOT turn on Unless the PWR_ON state was
ON when the computer lost power. I have however had a cheap PSU that would
do this "odd" cycle when you plug it in and if the feature was enabled it
would turn itself on (I think the psu would try to cut the system on, then
turn itself straight off, the system would see it as a power failure and
then attempt to repower)..
