hi all,

I'm planning to switch my Precision 670 from board part number X0392 to
XC837
i.e. to Paxville DC enabled board.

Is there anything incompatible with the new board appart from the CPU types?

e.g.

- Will the same power supply do the job e.g. the Paxvilles are very power
hungry.

- Will the chassis be the same for both boards?

- Will the current original Dell working VRM be compatible with the new
board/Paxville
or should I use the VRM shipped with the Paxville processor i.e. HP ProLiant
BL20p
Voltage Regulator DL360 G3 351063-001.

Anything else to be aware of?

Many thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Giovanni

The board should be compatible with both the chassis and power supply. You
should ask Dell spare parts about the VRM when you call them about the PAX
board.

They should have the associated (proper) VRM P/N and maybe even the specs.
It may be that the VRM you have will be fine. They should be able to tell
you that as well from your system service tag.
