Print Head Path Error

Hi

We have a 1050C plotter. This is about a 4 year old machine. Until recently we have been getting
this error when trying to load role feed paper: "Check print head path turn off printer (2)"

It occures just before the knife cuts the paper when we try to load a role.

I have been to HP site to see what can be done. Their information dose not help with this issue.

It seems that there is an electronic problem.

Has anyone had similar issues with this model or models like it? Were you able to resolve the
issue or work around it?

Check obstacles inside printer, i.e. turn it off while head is somewhere in
the middle an then move it by hand. Second, clean encoder strip with an
alcohol (carefully!).
I assume there is something (piece of paper ?) at the end of cutter assembly
that blocks head movement, so it gets confused and halts.
