I have an HP color laserjet 2550L printer but it does not work with windows
Vista via usb connection.
Vista recognised it when I plugged the printer into a usb port but no
printer was installed under "Printers". If I try to install the printer
manually I see a message that usb printers are installed automatically and
there is no usb port if I try to continue.
Under system devices I noticed that the printer is refered with its name and
(DOT4) Under "IEEE 18... devices" .

Any help in troubleshooting the problem appreciated

Thanks in advance

I have the same printer but have it connected to a print server via parallel
cable. The first time the printer was connected to a Vista machine, it was
a massive headache. My CLJ2550 is using an HP Universal PostScripts driver
http://tinyurl.com/ywkcvs. I think I had to install the driver then open
Properties > Ports then assign it to the proper port. The PLC5 driver
worked but no color. The PLC6 driver didn't work at all. Good lick.
You'll need it with HP's crappy support of Vista... Dean

IMHO they do not want to support it for Vista they want you to purchase a
new printer. So I did a Canon.
