PS1 screen to PC

Hello all,
I am fitting a ps1 5" screen to the front of my comp. It works well but I
have a DC mains wire trailing through the comp to outside which looks
strange. I was just wondering if it is possible to connect the screen to the
PSU. Is it possible to attach the car lighter adapter that came with the
screen to a 12v molex and straight into the screen? On the lighter adapter
it does say 12v input 7.5v output.
