Question about 600m Power button

I have an Inspiron 600m, 2003 model. I know the LEDs below the power
button are on when the computer is, but the light does not show through
the power button. Am I alone in this or is that the way the 600m is set up?

I took the button cover off and looked at the bottom of the power
button, and it appears to be black and not set up to allow light to go
through. Even the owner's manual mentions the power button light.
Don't know what to think.

Thanks,
Clark

Don't know about the 600m specifically, but the 6000 has a separate power
LED that is not integrated into the power button itself - if that helps.

The 600m has the lights on a board below the buttons and provides a lensesto
s ee them. The power button does not appear to have such a lens, but it
does have lights under it.

I see what you're talking about. This probably won't help confirm anything,
but just in case......

OK, thanks. I will look to see if there is a button cover with a
different type of power button. Not a big deal, but would be nice.

BTW, having looked at the pick of the 600m, it and the 6000 are nothing
alike - especially the power switch.

The 6000's button is flat and appears as though it has an LED within/behind
the button itself, but it does not illuminate; those LED's being instead on
the bezel beside the button.

Is that the buttom with a colored (blue?) light that circles the
button when on? My daughter has a 600m (year?) and I seem to
remember a light that circles around the button but to be honest I'm
not 100% sure I'm accurate. I need to ask her about this (she's lives
away at college).

The button has a graphic on it that would appear to be a lens for the
light to come through, but I don't think this one was designed to do
that. Maybe they changed the design for some reason and stopped.

Thanks,
Clark
