I want to get an nForce motherboard, but don't want to get a new processor,
I have an Athlon XP 1700+ (with the AGOGA code =)). It's got the 133 mhz
FSB, but most nForce boards are 200/266 or higher. So will my proc work in
those boards? TIA

PS - About the proc, I bought it brand new from an Ebay store about 2 years
ago, before I even knew what overclocking was, I just wanted to build my own
PC. I didn't want the latest, fastest everything, so I just grabbed that.
Imagine my surprise last year when Maximum PC magazine claimed it to be one
of the 5 best overclocking chips! Then as I learned more about overclocking,
I almost fell out of my chair when I learned about the stepping codes, and
checked mine! hehe

It'll work just fine. Your AXP1700+ is a 266FSB chip...

And yes, it's a good stepping. Take a serious look at the Abit NF7-S board,
you'll be happy (some may disagree)

Most Nforce boards are 200MHz official max. There are no current boards
over 200MHz FSb (400FSB). Careful you don't get the bogus FSB numbers
confused with the real clock speed numbers.

Well, if you try and overclock that old Palomino core XP like the newer
Tbred B core xp's, you will fall out of your chair because it won't
overclock near as much as the newer cores. IOW's, you be wasting your
money if you're buying the new board thinking of overclocking your 1700+
more than about 1800MHz max, which you can do in your old board.
