Hi everyone, I've just bought a new hard drive for my Inspiron 5160
laptop . I also got another caddy to hold it. My plan is to pull out
the old hard drive/caddy and insert the new one, then use the Dell
WinXP CD to reinstall the operating system. Since I need the laptop
for my job this would allow me to set up all my programs the way I
like them at my leisure and when I need to do some work I can just pop
the old hard drive/caddy in and everything will be just like it's
always been. When I finally get the new hard drive set up like I want
it and all my data transferred I can then do away with the old drive.
My question is, will the XP activation cause me problems or is that
not something that I need worry about with the Dell CD's?
Hope this question makes sense. Thanks for any input!

No problem doing what you intend to do as long as you use the Dell CDs to
reinstall Windows and the required drivers... Ben Myers
