On "boot" I get messages;
"CMOS Settings wrong"
and
"CMOS memory size wrong"
What do they mean?
IF I use "F2" to start it will boot to CD-ROM drive
as I want to start op-sys.
Is there a place on the Elite web site that answers these
types of questions?
The FAQ's at the Taiwan and American sites
don't seem to answer such a basic question.
Thanks for your help.

Enter the CMOS setup and make some changes, then save and exit, this
will get rid of that stupid error. AMI BIOS has some built in
oddities, and one of them is if you clear the CMS, it gives you an
error on reset/restart/reboot that does not go away on the next cold
boot.

I had the same thing with mine, but I did exactly what Kyle suggests,
and it booted fine ever after. Seems to report an error when it boots
with everything in default.

Gary.

I got 2 of these boards - But ever since i got my daughter one, it has periodically reset the bios - Shown the two CMOS error messages mentioned above, and on reboot (After re-setting all the bios settings to the right one's), it also shows the "CMOS' Battery Low" warning message.
Because the "Battery Low" message is a phantom message which seems to happen a lot with these boards, i kept resetting everything thinking that my daughter must have pressed a few key combinations during boot-up, and didn't blame the battery - But it has happened so often now, (About 5 times in the past 11 months) that it must be!
I also know that; sometimes the battery needs a twirl to make it contact well with the board, and so i did that a few months ago, and it lasted the longest time without the error re-ocurring.
I've just noticed it has a 2025 battery installed, and not the CR2032 which i thought ALL K7S5A's used?
Anyway, i might be quick enough to replace the battery without losing my newly saved settings, but just in case i'm not, could someone point me toward a GOOD bios saving/restore program (THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAVE USED).
All the best - steve-blow

Use the CR2032 batteries if supported. You have time between changing them. In fact, if I remember correctly, if you remove the battery and let it sit for about 10-20 seconds, it will clear the cmos, at least on older motherboards. Generally, though, you should only have to replace the battery every 3-5 years. As far as a bios saving and restore program, I think you would have to have a motherboard that supports that feature. Check with the manufacturer of the motherboard for information on that.
