To elaborate on casual observer's links, the board wouldn't boot if you
selected 166/166 in the BIOS (some people have got 166/166 on a
different BIOS setting using a fairly hardcore, IMO, hardware mod. To
read more,
http://makeashorterlink.com/?N14123605 explains it). People
on the OCWorkbench forum have been using 166/166 via SpeedFan for a
*long* time though, most of the time in conjunction with the multiplier
mod. (I used to be a frequent lurker there)
At default it would just run at a much lower than rated speed,
equivalent to the fact that running a 1600+ (1400MHz) at 100MHz FSB as
is default on CMOS clear will set it running at 1050MHz.
A 2500+ would be at 1700+ speed, just with twice the L2 cache to give a
slight performance boost. (2500+ speed = 1833MHz, running at 166MHz FSB.
1833MHz / 166MHz = multiplier of 11, CPU MHz = multi x FSB, 11 x 133MHz
= 1463MHz, same speed as 1700+)
