So . . . what are some good sites hosting NOISE statistics and/or
comparisons for the current batch of 400+ Watt power supplies available
on the market?

Have any good models you're particularly fond of? Let me know! Thanks
guys.

I have the Zalman 400w and it's fairly quiet but it's not the top
rated at SilentPC review. I had easy access to the Zalman and all the
reviews on it were good at the time. Zalman is in the business of
making quiet components. It's easy to make a PSU quiet by using a low
RPM 90-120mm fan, or no fan at all, but you have to consider how well
they compensated for that with beefier heatsinks inside the PSU. It's
no good if they didn't also put in beefy heatsinks.

I've got a Zalman 400 and a Nexus 4090 that has a 120mm fan. Both are very
quiet - they are both operating ~ 50% of full power.
Antec has just recently come out with Phantom line - 350w and 500w. They've
added a lot of "heatsinking" - with the idea, I guess, to shift the point at
which the fan starts => so quieter for a wider % of operating range.

Like my noisy PC. Don't understand the irritation/fascination with this
minor amount of sound. Guess its so you can hear some of those almost
silent farts? Or, perhaps, hear the cockroaches playing in the PC?

If you want a good quality power supply instead of the cheap junk that
dominates the market, then look at some units from PC Power and
Cooling. For example, the following will meet your needs:

I have two Silencer power supplies and they work well. They may not be
the quietest on the market, but they are the best made and most stable
and reliable. I'm not affiliated with the company in any way; just a
satisfied customer.

Derek thanks for the linky.

Can I ask you . . . I couldn't locate a CHART showing these various
models (?). Do I have to read _every one_ of their articles?

I know I'm lazy, but I'm looking for the data on one page, if possible.
