Wikipedia and several on-line memory sellers say that the memory is
PC2100 DDR 200-pin SODIMM, which sounds about right for an early P4
laptop. PC2700 generally works well when PC2100 is the required memory
according to specs. PC3200 might not work.
Max memory is 1GB, consisting of 2x512MB.
HP has managed to omit detailed specs for many of its consumer-oriented
computers (Presarios and Pavilions), which can be damned annoying.
Just to be sure, why not remove the battery, remove the memory cover,
and see what the markings are in the sticker(s) on the memory chips?
The Compaq part number can be googled to find out what the memory really
is... Ben Myers
