865PE NEO2-S
P4 2.4C
2x256 Corsair CMX256-3200 C2
Bios 1.4

When I set the performance mode to Turbo or Higher, the system boots up
fine, but after a few moments during XP the graphics switch to the lowest
resolution and 4-bit depth....

When I set the performance to "Slow" everything is fine....

Any help would be appreciated.

Will stick with Intel board next time

All drivers up to date... Every single one...

When I select anything higher than slow my system gets flakey. Yes
the video drops to a low res and color depth same as yours. Not sure
what this setting does but it isn't very stable.
Anyone read what this really does? It doesn't even appear in my
manual.

You have an identical setup to mine, so it's good to know I'm not the only
one having this problem... I'm very happy to see that it's not just a
Corsair problem too...

I hope these MSi people abandon this system of using Fast - Ultra Turbo
etc... because we need to know exactly what settings the MOBO is using in
order to know if our memory modules can handle the speed or not...

Have you tried leaving it set at slow and try the high performance
default settings? From what I can tell it set the cas 3 Kingston
memory to cas 2.5 tweaked the other timings and bumped up the memory
voltage. Been working great for me so far. I also set the pci bus
speed to 34/68 mhz with no problems.

For me, the SPD always uses 2.5 instead of 2 for CAS...
I am using the 'Slow' setting, and it worls fine...I just want to get the
most bang for the buck....
Right now I have no bucks, and this is hardly a bang.
Benchmarks are not very impressive.
What's that benefit of changing the pci bus speed to 34/68?

CPU-Z version 1.19b
Memory Modules Serial Presence Detect (SPD)

Module #0
Memory type DDR-SDRAM
Manufacturer (ID) Corsair (7F7F9E0000000000)
Size 256MBytes
Max bandwidth PC3200 (200MHz)
Part number CMX256A-3200C2
Max frequency @CAS#2.0 166MHz
Max frequency @CAS#2.5 200MHz

Module #1
Memory type DDR-SDRAM
Manufacturer (ID) Corsair (7F7F9E0000000000)
Size 256MBytes
Max bandwidth PC3200 (200MHz)
Part number CMX256A-3200C2
Max frequency @CAS#2.0 166MHz
Max frequency @CAS#2.5 200MHz

=======================================

No wonder... The module is marketed at CAS 2, but it can't handle that speed
once you pass 166MHz....

....bloody wankers....

Well, I better give OCZ a ring...

I have a Radeon 9200 in a Athlon 2400+ system which has been a bit unstable
with reboots or BSOD at certain times. There is a very new driver set at the
ATI site, ver 7.93 I think dated early this month. It is available as a
single 24 MB file or in three smaller pieces. I took the single file
version. It seems to have fixed my problems, or at least made them very much
less frequent.

Not sure there is any real benefit to boosting the pci or apg clock.

Found out in another thread here about a beta bios. Version 1.5B2
A link to it is in the MSI forums.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/main.php

actual thread is here
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_serv...50e2fac93a6b69

This bios fixes most of the troubles using MAT. I am running it now in
turbo mode. Couldn't before. Many find their systems more stable using
this bios.
1 guy says this.
Fixed for AGP/PCI auto OCing on Turbo AGP/PCI 66/33. Still OC at
Fast?! No more stuttering for my Sapphire 9500Pro at Turbo. NB temp
still not fixed.
Another thread there says the high NB temp readings are not correct.
Flaw in the board.

Sorry to here our ram isn't what you thought. I am thinking of getting
better ram after reading the difference in test scores going from cas
3 to cas 2. Found out that even thou the ram was set to 2.5 on my
system on reboot it reverted back to cas 3. :-( cpu-z shows it
3-3-3-8 www.cpuid.com
Also using turbo mode cpu-z reports the following
core speed 2434
FSB 202.8
bus speed 811.3

might try ultra turbo tomorrow

Just a update. Been running the 1.52 bios for a few days now. Not
only am I using the turbo mode but have run up the ram speed to 234mhz
or 468mhz ddr ,fsb is 936 and the cpu is running at 2.8ghz.
No video problems.
