RAID question

I want to create a new RAID 0 array without reinstalling Windows XP.

If I was installing a new disk drive, I would simply make an image of my
existing boot partition and transfer it to the new partitioned and formated
drive and reboot the new drive to Windows.

The problem I forsee is that the current Windows installation installed on a
new RAID array might not boot because Windows won't even see itself on the
drive until it has the required RAID drivers.

My current Windows XP installation is running on an ASUS A7V600-X with VIA
8237 southbridge RAID controller. I am using a single SATA HDD and Windows
appears to be using the RAID driver to control the single SATA drive. If
that is the case, Windows should have the necessary drivers installed to
recognize a new RAID array.

Anybody ever done this before ?

Cheers,
Skydog

I have used Drive Image Pro before and installed a drive image onto a raid
setup.
The program recognized the raid drives.

I did it this way:

First I made a Backup of my Partition (e.g. Drivesnapshot [1]). Second i've
created
the desired RAID in BIOS an made it bootable.
Windows PE is able to use the created RAID-Partition (with installed drivers
[2]) to
restore the saved data. Last you have to repair your installation und also
install HD
drivers to your installation..
Be sure, your XP-CD has to be slipstreamed with SP2, otherwise you'll get
problems
with bigger disc sizes than 128 GB [3].
